The multi-year battle over Bloomfield Center’s redevelopment is beginning to fade, and the formerly-fading business district known as Block 228 is now almost a blank slate. The excitement is palpable, at least to the folks at Senorita’s Mexican Grill and Anthony’s Cheesecake, who can now see each other and are tweeting across the triangle.
This was how it looked today, in muted fall colors, from the top floor of the Frank M. Leo building at Bloomfield Ave. and Broad Street. A multi-use development, including condos, retail and a parking garage, is planned.

“A multi-use development, including condos, retail and a parking garage, is planned.”
Judging from the photograph, construction still seems to be in the pocket-lining phase…
Good one, Conan!
This looks like a good spot for a new OWS encampment.
Folks could shower at Heartbreakers and enjoy nachos at Senorita’s.
You see progress? All I see is a huge, empty lot which will soon be filled with trash.
Anyone know if Jukgaijee is open again?
Yes, it does not look good right now – but I saw the blueprints of what is coming, and it is going to be beautiful! But, will probably take 3 years.
“At least the folks at Senoritas and Anthony’s Cheesecake can now see each other” – how great is that? What a coincidence – both of those properties are owned by the one and only William Colgan – who also happens to be the developer of the blighted block inbetween!!! Well, the brillant minds of the Bloomfield government and their developer cronies now will sleep in the disgusting, extremely overpriced bed they made. Anyone who actually believes that this fantasy development is going to really happen is totally naive and must be living in a cave for the last 10 years. The real estate market does not support a development such as this, and doubtfully will even by the time it is done, and the Town has designated a developer with zero experience – aside from greed and ego. Lets all sit back and watch how sore loser Carey Heller’s lawsuit against the Town turns out! This diseaster is the gift that keeps giving!!! Don’t be fooled by demolished buildings – they just lower the tax revenue for the Town!!
