It took a cherry picker, two staffers from the Montclair Business Improvement District, a county worker and 3/8″ stainless steel airline cable provided by developer Dick Grabowsky to hang Montclair Center’s new Snowflake Skyline over Bloomfield Ave. last Friday. Executive director Luther Flurry documented the event. The 48-foot long, 6 1/2-foot tall aluminum skyline, which debuts in Montclair Center this year, was made by CDI Industries in Pompano, FL and weighs about 100 pounds.
“It’s massively safe,” says Flurry, adding that engineers were on hand to supervise its placement. “The stainless steel airline cable is strong enough to hold a tank up.” See Flurry’s slideshow after the jump.
You can see the skyline in person this Friday night at Window Wonderland, a self-guided tour to the season’s best local holiday windows, with lots of cocoa, cider, music and even a life-size baby T-Rex.

Really??? A Snow Flake and a guy named Flurry… not one joke??
Everyone was sleeping Jimmytown. If his name was Blizzard, Drift, Storm, or Accululation people might have noticed, but flurries don’t rate. Apparently even the ones who decorate our beloved Avenue.
