Good morning snow! Pretty, glistening snow with fluffy flakes greeted you this morning. In an email last night, Montclair Township says its prepared for winter weather and snow removal services. Montclair reminds you of how to park in the snow, being snow ready, emergency tips and how snow gets removed by the town.
The Glen Ridge Library will open at noon today. The demonstration for Save Wildwood has been postponed. The OpShop at St. Peter’s Church is closed, but Evolution Yoga says they are open for their 8 am and 10 am classes. School of Rock’s Led Zeppelin show at Just Jake’s is delayed one hour with show starting at 5 pm (for kids activity closings and delays, check Barista Kids). How about a hot drink post-shoveling?
What are you plans for today — and is the weather messing with them?

Food Shopped, yesterday
Plenty Fuel Oil
8 Boxes of table salt for steps & sidewalk
5 “Show & Classic” Cars all in heated storage
So, yes, we are “ready” It’s allready winding down, looks like 4 inches,
at the most.
dog Walkers are out. Glad I no longer have a woofer
Going to get out the ol’ Belchfire 2000 once the snow stops and do the mouth of my driveway after the town plows me in. Monday I’ll be in FLL with 80 degree weather pretending I could get used to Palm trees moving in the breeze…..Hey! where’s my coconut drink?
I live and work in Montclair and have not seen one plow or salt truck since 8:00 this morning around the Watchung Plaza area and the roads are a mess. Really terrible commute-I didn’t get the email about preperation but I’m still waiting to see it….can I get a plow for the ride home?
Nice to have an excuse to stay home and do nothing!
Went to the A&P in Denville with Mrs Ice and we might have 4 inches of snow. Pretty much a non event.
GR is all plowed from my vantage point.
Ach! The ol’ Belchfire died on me. Called Southend to come pick it up and resuscitate before a really big storm hits.
Walking down the street people were shoveling the snow with a sense of great relief. Everyone still seems to be shell shocked from last winter and the Snoctogeddon surprise. Oh, spring, hurry it up!
70 days until April First
You remind me of my father, Sandy. He was always counting down to something.
If you live and work in Mtc, what the heck do you have to complain about?
And where the heck is everybody? Why am I always the only loser who haunts this place on Saturday night? Why, why, why!
…why…why… why…
Hello….lo…lo….lo….
Out… out… out… .
There… there… there…
What we had today was not snow. It was a dusting.
…dusting…. dusting…. dusting…
Yodle-ay-hee-hoo…. ooo…oooo..ooo…ooo
All right, all right. I’m going to pour myself some scotch and go back to work. You all can sod off…. fffffffff!
Walleroo…..I had to go spend some quality time by the fireplace with my spouse & daughter but I’m back now…..How was the scotch?
PAZ! Thank god you’re here, or else I’d be drinking alone. I’m still nursing it. It goes slower when you drink it straight up.
Newt won and he’s praising everybody right now except Obama who he says is a disaster. I must be living in a parallel universe.
I don’t have any scotch but there’s vodka.
Maybe I can cash in some “food stamps” down at the Bottle King?
Ah, the Newt victory! How sweet it is!
If it’s any consolation, PAZ, the scotch I’m drinking is considerably younger than whatever Newt is probably drinking right now.
PAZ? PAZ! Did you nod off? Wake up, man!
Either PAZ is still waiting in line at Bottle King or he can’t hold his vodka.
Sorry, W., I was watching a movie and then figuring out the whole Paterno snafu on Twitter. Over here, port. From Virginia.
Port? What a toff! Oh, from Virginia… I guess that’s pretty lowbrow. Okay, you pass.
Hey, don’t forget to change the featured comment tomorrow. That item has been growing some serious cobwebs lately.
Poor Paterno. He’s in even worse shape than Romney.
Okay, time to throw a blanket over PAZ and turn in. Gee, it was a great night with y’all. What great company y’all’ve been. Yes, I’m being sarcastic.
Sorry Roo, I was out walking the streets of GR last night making sure they were heated and clear along with the heated sidewalks. I couldn’t listen to Newt anymore….I’m still trying to figure out who the “Elites” are.
They wouldn’t even take my foodstamps down at the Bottle King! Apparently they’re supposed to be used for food, so I bought a length soppressata, I figured I needed some protection for the walk home.
Looks like I a missed a great chance at dominating a thread with Paz and Walleroo last evening. I was snoozing my way through reruns of This Old House and the Golf Tournament that wasn’t. Five-star Mextaxa was my bevvy of choice, which also may explain some of the snoozing.
So all the pundits on Friday were saying that the voters in South Carolina were most concerned about who could beat Obama. Then Newt wins! My sources say he wasn’t even in South Carolina, but in Florida awaiting the birth of his next wife.
Kudos to the Twnshp of Bloomfield plow driver who showed up within an hour after the snow stopped, and who made at least four passes down our short, cul-de-sac block, then backed down the street and turned on the salt spreader as he drove off. Good job.
Reading walleroo’s dialogue with himself from last night reminded me of one of Samuel Beckett’s monologue plays. That is not necessarily a good thing.
Can’t we all at least chip in to buy this man a teddy bear with which to keep him company? (He could name it “Sebastian!”)
That is not necessarily a good thing.
This is without doubt the mildest insult cathar has ever hurled against me. You’re slipping, old man.
You wouldn’t have dominated anything, Conan. PAZ and I would have kicked your sorry a$$. But we would have had great fun doing it.
Whatever the state of my verbal abilities, walleroo, I at least had something better to do last night (and even someone to do it with) than is indicated by your pitiable bleating. Which was at best a likely failed episode of onanism.
(Come to think of it, too, how were you able to resist commenting on that new “Drums of Thunder” item on this site? Were you afraid of the grade schoolers?)
Damn you guys are funny
2:52 AM, Roo, and I would have been fighting a battle of wits wih an unarmed opponent.
Walleroo. you seem as bored as I am.the “highlight” of the day was a ride with the Mrs. to Eden Garden for their pickle bar, their olive bar and a small piece of white-fish, and then back home to fry it. Yawn ! I want it to be May, allready !
May in Montclair, where art thou?
“I at least had something better to do last night (and even someone to do it with)”
Was that someone’s name Johnson?
Thanks for all the laughs here!
I’d like to thank the town of Montclair for doing a great job of plowing my street on Saturday.
I’d also like to thank the town for yet another unenforced ordinance. Folks from blocks away use my street as a public overnight parking lot, and there was nary a snow-covered ticket to be found. One of our neighbors waited til the street was plowed, promptly took one of his cars out of the driveway, and left it there for about 36 hours. I guess technically no longer prohibited by the “snow emergency”, but still making it a pain to back out of my driveway.
I need to move out to the country!
Oh, sure, laugh away Kay. Har de har har. But where were you on Saturday night, when I needed you?
Nowhere, that’s where.
oh, my heart! Dearest Roo, you actually missed me?? ((swoon))
