I have a little daydream that I run into Stephen Colbert on Church Street. He stops me and says, “Aren’t you Georgette Gilmore of Barista Kids?” To which I reply, “Why yes. I am Georgette Gilmore of Barista Kids.” Stephen tells me he’s a big fan, then asks if I would like to grab a cappuccino at Raymond’s (He has read I love them). He tells me that he’s meeting his friend Jon Stewart there and he would love to introduce me. “That would be lovely,” I reply, and I spend the next hour sitting in between the two sipping coffee, laughing, and having a great conversation.
Silly? Maybe. But possible, sort of. The Montclair Film Festival has announced Jon Stewart in Conversation with Stephen Colbert at The Wellmont Theater on Friday, December 7, which will allow you to sit in on a conversation between Jon and Stephen while they talk politics, share anecdotes and show clips from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.
The one night only, rare, live performance is a fundraiser for Montclair Film Festival. Last year, Stephen Colbert stepped out of character for an interview in front of a sold out theater to help MFF raise money for its inaugural festival. With the success of the festival, MFF is gearing up for a bigger and better festival this May and offering this bigger and better fundrasier.
Tickets will go on sale beginning this Friday, October 26 at noon. General tickets, which range from $50 – $175, can be purchased through the Wellmont here. VIP tickets for $250 will be available directly through the Montclair Film Festival here.

I better get my ducats quickly before cathar and prof buy up the whole first section!
What are you serious??? C’mon Georgette they aren’t Bobby Sherman and Leif Garrett. Fotunately, I won’t be able to attend the event, I think the last of my leaves might be falling. Come to think of it, if they were having that conversation in my yard I wouldn’t open the blinds.
Bobby Sherman? How old do you think I am Herb? Leif Garret was more in my age range, but I was more a Scott Baio girl.
As a former fan of Bobby Sherman AND a big CURRENT fan of Colbert and Stewart, will make the utmost effort to be there!
Isn’t a Cyndi Lauper concert more your sty;e, croiagusanam? You seem to like ‘em squeaky-voiced, after all.
That this is being booked at the Wellmont on a Friday night says a lot about the sad state of the local concert business, I suspect.
And all so the Film Festival can book more guests like Michael Moore for its next go-round? Oh well, at least it may well take place during a Republican administration.
How in God’s name cathar would you know what sort of voices I prefer?
It is truly astounding to see so often what a terminal humbug and crank you truly are.
And I’d certainly prefer a week listening to Cyndi’s “squeaky voice” than 5 minutes suffering through your no-doubt wheezing and stuttering vocalizations.
While I won’t bring the Deity into this discussion, croiagusanam, your taste for the mousy-sounding is evident from your own posts. You often don’t post so much as you do “pipe up.”
May I recommend some cough medicine for what ails ya? You’ll probably opt for Cheracol with codeine, of course. But whatever gets you through the long, lonely days and nights.
But you have your usual termagant sort of day whatever your particular poison is.
I think I’ll wait for “A Night With Doocy and Rove”. But I think Halloween is already booked at the Wellmont.
spiro, I think “A Night With Doocy and Rove” is the April Fools show.
That this is being booked at the Wellmont on a Friday night says a lot about the sad state of the local concert business, I suspect.
That we are commenting on Baristanet on any day of the week says a lot about the sad state of our souls, I suspect.
As always, a flailing offer from the site’s resident bereft-of-humor scold.
But by all means carry on, cathar, in your own miserable, basement-dwelling fashion.
I’ll stick with the Smith Brothers, by the way. Or some tea with honey.
May I recommend for you some Pennzoil with a Clorox chaser?
Dancing and whooping and hollering at so many fun North Jersey area events, it’s sometimes easy to forget that there are people out there in the world that spend a good deal of their time quartered behind window blinds in rooms lamenting the state of local concerts. Sad indeed.
Oh well, tix at “reasonable” price range (50-75) sold out right away. Not shocking that the $175 ones remain. This was priced far too high. For me, at least.
