Winner chosen: Contest closed.

Marrakesh Express, a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tribute band will perform (with special guests The Guthrie Brothers) at Outpost in The Burbs this Saturday night on Saturday, January 19 and we have two tickets to give away to one lucky reader.

A band dedicated to the tribute CSNY is unheard of due to the difficulty in replicating the 3- and 4-part vocal harmonies that made the group international superstars. Marrakesh Express is the world’s only touring CSNY tribute band and excels at reproducing their complex songs and cascading, layered harmonies. The band takes the audience back to the late 1960s with youthful musicians who bring an authentic hippie vibe and visual to the stage:

The Guthrie Brothers have been playing and singing together since they were kids, writing harmony-driven guitar songs and covering Simon & Garfunkel, the Beatles and more.

Want to see Marrakesh Express with special guests The Guthrie Brothers on Saturday night? Tell us, which is your favorite CSN&Y song in comments by tonight, Wednesday, January 16 at 6 pm EST and we’ll randomly chose the winner of two tickets to see Marrakesh Express with special guests The Guthrie Brothers on Saturday night, January 19 at 8 pm at Outpost in The Burbs.

OHIO – the shootings at kent State changed many people’s lives- including mine. The song was banned on some AM radio stations for a time and played on the underground FM stations that I was listening to. I had already been active in the stop the war movement but this spurred me on to attend more demos and work against the war in a much more active fashion and put my body on the line.

    ps- I was 17 in 1970

Why am I rolling my eyes? Our House. Because I harbor the fantasy of being able to go back in time so I can live in Laurel Canyon and have Joni, David Crosby, Mama Cass and Jim Morrison – to name a few – as my neighbors.

“But the wooden ships were just a hippie dream..”

Leave it to good ol’ Neil – never was one to mince words.

I still remember the day that Kent State happened – talking about it during art class… I too was 17 in 1970 but didn’t yet have the political awareness or maturity to spur me on to protest as Pat did. That came later…

Favorite CSNY song? It’s difficult, there are so many good ones. I think I’d choose Teach Your Children.

JG, I really recommend a real CSN concert, circa 2013. We saw them at the Beacon Theater just last year, and they were superb. They will be touring again this year. Crosby was awesome, still has that powerful voice although his attitude has mellowed. Melodies and harmonies are still intact although Steven Stills is half deaf. Nash holds it all together for the band. They have a great backup band, too. Deja Vu, Teach Your Children, Southern Cross, Wooden Ships, Our House, For What It’s Worth, Guinnevere all performed, and many more, all top notch.

Doesn’t look like they are coming this way on announced tour dates – they are hitting FL, NC, AL, and MS in May, Germany in June and July and then Paris and Weert

I’d love to see them again but my days of traveling that far for a concert are over

I loved the CS&N show at The Wellmont. Crosby and Nash’s voices sounded great and what Stills lacked vocally he sure made up with his guitar playing! I was also happy that while eating dinner at a window table across the street on Bloomfield, I looked up to see David Crosby walking past the restaurant. I waved and he waved back.

As a volunteer with The Outpost, I hope you all come to hear Marrakesh Express Saturday night. While not the “real” deal, I hear that the band puts on a terrific show! You’ll have a great time in a beautiful room, all at a reasonable price!

Glad to hear there was a grant. It was an insane amount of $ that was proposed to come out of town coffers. Good job, BID!
