You’ve read about the proposed well in Montclair’s Nishuane Park. There were letters of support as well as concern and then, there were those heated meetings, packed with residents who vocally opposed the project for myriad reasons, including losing precious open space and because a pump house would be an eyesore. Supporters of the well say it’s needed to ensure water for future development in Montclair. What do you think:

I am for affordable water just as I am for affordable housing. Wherever the water is to be found (Nishuane park) and wherever the most economical upgrading of needy property structures can improve the overall values and benefit the most people. That is not on town owned vacant land that could bring continuing tax revenue and market rate prices. We are a caring community but not a foolish community. At least I hope not.

Wildwoodben — this isn’t an either/or situation. We can put the well in another location that is neither taxed land nor parkland. Options were raised at the meeting on this issue last Thursday.

THANK GOD! Though I have admit that I really, really liked the bands that Bowery brought in... Let's hope it won't be too pop-centered with LiveNation.
