dogsIs your dog vomiting yellow fluid every morning? Do you want to know if it’s safe to color your Bichon Frise with chalk? What kind of exercise does a beagle need compared to a pug?

These were three of many issues discussed on yesterday Petocracy’s homepage. The new website was launched about a month ago and describes itself as “a one-stop online community for dog and cat owners.”

On the website’s Pinterest-like pages, pet parents can connect with a team of Resident Experts (pet professionals from around the United States), connect with other pet owners and lovers, and get tailored information about their pet.

“Petocracy is all about bringing a personalized experience to the community,” says Vicky Simpson, a Petocracy “team member.”

The company, which is based in Virginia Beach, also hosts local events around the country to connect with pet owners on an in-person basis. On April 13, Petocracy will be holding a “Dog Appreciation Day” at Pups@Play in Livingston. New Jersey dog trainer Fern Camacho, one of the sites Resident Experts, will be co-hosting the event.

The free event takes place from 12-4pm and will have book signings by Jeff Coltenback (of Memphis fame) and Jim Gorant. There will also be an appearance by Daniel the Miracle Dog, free training and obedience sessions, and Q&As with groomers, nutritionists and trainers. A few rescues will also be on hand for possible pet adoptions. For more information, click here.

  1. Well, most of the pet owners I know refer to themselves as Mommy and Daddy when speaking to their pets. Personally, I feel my pets are members of the family, so I don’t consider myself a pet owner per se.

  2. Christina – Jeff Coltenback was famous and well known long before Memphis.

He’s a well respected (and certified) animal trainer who runs a Pit Bull rescue http://www.pittyrescue.com and owns a holistic Pet Food Store.

“Paradise Pet, Inc was established to provide our customers with the healthiest foods, best products and highest quality of supplies ever assembled in one store. We specialize in all natural bird, cat and dog foods, as well as dog behavior including aggression. ”
