Kids Create: Card for Mother's Day

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

mothers day card.jpgI asked my son Alan, age 3, what he should get me for Mother Day's. He said a new car. He meant the kind that come in little packages from Kmart.

Truthfully, all I want is a homemade card, a spa day and dinner out. Is that too much? I will love anything my son makes--even if it's a Play Doh cupcake.

But I can help him with the card. I made a design (see left) that his daddy can download, print out and give to Alan to decorate. It's that easy.

And if my husband wants to book a spa and make a dinner reservation, well, I won't complain...

The printable Mother's Day card:

  1. Print out the attached card (PDF). It's set up for 8 ½" x 11 paper and intended to be folded in half. NOTE: The PDF opens really large, and due to technical difficulties, I can't fix it (ugh this internet). So when you go to print, simply scale it down to fit page--on a Mac, click Scale each page to fit paper. Or, you can save the PDF as a .jpg, and then the size is correct.
  2. Color in the drawing with crayons, marker, glitter or anything thing else that will make the card special.
  3. Then maybe help your child--or maybe his dad--write nice things inside that your child can finish, such as 'I love you more than....... (icecream with chocolate sprinkles)' or 'My favorite thing to do with you is .......( take all the neatly folded clothes out of my drawers and try them on)' or 'You are the best because.....(you sing and dance with me)'
What's the most memorable Mother's Day gift you've received from your children?
