Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness in Memory of Isabella

Thursday, May 21, 2009

isabella.jpgOur warmest thoughts go out to the Pugliano family. On February 12, 2009, they experienced an unthinkable tragedy when their 9-year-old daughter, Bradford Elementary student Isabella Rose died unexpectedly. Her death left the family with heartache and questions...

Of course, they wanted to know why she died so suddenly. They recently discovered that Isabella suffered from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), which was caused from a previous heart condition they hadn't known about.

If her defect had only been detected, her life could've been saved. Now the family is working to raise awareness so other families will not suffer.

They're holding an event on Tuesday, May 26 for parents to learn about Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), the possible genetic heart condition Isabella had that causes thickening of the heart wall muscle. You can detect HCM it in your children and in adults, and it is treatable. The event will take place after a private Garden Dedication in memory of Isabella at Bradford.

Here is more info on the event they are hosting:

My sympahies to the Pugliano family for the tragedy they suffered. Good for them for turning their grief into action.

That is so heart breaking, what a beautiful little girl.
