Still feeling patriotic after this past weekend? Glen Ridge mom Julie Law is collecting Beanie Babies to support our troops. She's also collecting coupons and toiletries for soldier care packages.
"This is just one of a few things I plan to do in response to President and First Lady Obama's call to service," Law says. See her with her family this 4th of July at left.
So gather up those old Beanie Babies, and get them to Julie. The soldiers in Iraq are counting on you...
Here is more info about the items she's is collecting. Just leave these things on her covered front porch, and she will mail them. Email her for directions.
1. Soldiers in Iraq love getting Beanie Babies--old ones will do. They like handing these out to kids they meet.
2. Troops want coupons for everyday groceries and household items. Military families can only shop at at the Commissaries and Post Exchanges on their bases, where prices are expensive. Both the Commissaries and Post Exchanges allow manufacturer's coupons up to 6 months past their expiration date.
3. A lot of the service men and women don't have shampoo, deodorant, body wash, lotion and basic toiletries because their rations run out. They also like receiving snack-sized cookie packs, chips and dried fruit.

what a wonderful idea. thank you for giving us this opportunity to support our troops.
I'm so happy to have a place to donate all of our beanie babies and help the troops in the process.
