A best pizza winner in Bloomfield, the rest of the food here is mighty good, too. BYO beer and sample crisp, thin crust brick oven pies (we like the four cheese).

always wanted to try this place. when i finally did, i was unimpressed. the outside NEVER gives you any idea about how it will look on the inside, but i liked that. very dim. it was mysterious.
the people who worked there were very nice to me and my fiance' but the seemingly "off the clock workers" who just seemed to mill around were a bit unsettling. the restroom was nice, though.
the food was okay. that's really all i can say about it. i won't badmouth them, but i sure as heck won't praise them. nice place to just stop by.
My husband and I were very unimpressed with Cosimos and have vowed never to eat there again. Not only did we not get what we ordered, the owner was extremely rude and condescending towards us.
My husband ordered a pizza with proscuitto on it. In italian, proscuitto means 'ham' - however, typically in this country, when you order something with proscuitto, you expect to get proscuitto - cured italian ham.
When his pizza arrived, it had deli ham on it - cheap, pink, gelatinous pressed deli ham... When we politely brought this to the owner's attention, he immediately tried to pull the wool over our eyes by giving us a huge lecture about how we don't understand that proscuitto really means ham, and that it was our fault for thinking we'd get proscuitto. When I responded to him in italian, he quickly went to the kitchen and brought back real proscuitto about mumbling many obscenities about us to the waiter. (which I understood)
The pizzas were quite yummy, especially the charred thin crusts - but in spite of the delicious food, we do not want to return because the owner, is a rude, dishonest person.
Oh my! I am so surprised to read the previous comments about Cosimo's! My husband and I have found it to be our little Italian weeknight restaurant! Everytime we had ordered the "Cosimo's" pizza (the one with proscuitto and arugula), we've always been more than satisfied, (with real proscuitto). They make very good artisan pizzas. The salads are large- you can order one and share. Try the fruitti de mare which I had twice and both times the calamari was not rubbery but just the right tenderness, plenty of scuingilli and the vinaigrette was not overpowering. I have not had the pasta yet, although they tell me it is home made. The service has always been gracious, maybe a little hectic on a busy night. I have had such good experiences there that I feel like family. Save room for the Panna Cotta for dessert, you will not regret it!
Molto bene! We had personal pizzas from there tonight... they were ready in 5 minutes and very yummy. The owner is a little brusque but – given what a zoo it is in there on a Friday night – can you blame him?
I, too, am shocked to here that people didn't enjoy their experience at Cosimo's! It has quickly become the restaurant of choice for my friends and I. Decent prices and the byob make for a fantastically inexpensive night that's sure to satisfy. Looking forward to going there tonight, with a bottle of red, and a bottle of white! Pizza is amazing, by the way!

Yes. Yes I can blame him. It's his job to be welcoming. And appreciative of the business (read that money in exchange for food that's cooked well and served pleasantly.
Cosimo's is a great little Italian place. I highly recommend their chicken parmigiana panini, and I have even ordered things that were not on the menu and those came out amazing as well.
The pizza, I wasn't too thrilled with. I found the crust a little limp and a bit too chewy for the Italian-style pizza they are going for. I admit that I am kind of a pizza snob, though, so others may think it's great.
Cosimo's is the BEST place to eat!! The food melts in your mouth. I thought the owner was a really nice man. I thought he was very welcoming. The place was warm and inviting. The waiter was very helpful (and cute too). My friend and I will be back again. I recommend everyone try it for yourself.
I ate there on a week night - not too crowded, service was okay, not sure owner was there. Had a personal pizza as did my friend and they were only "okay". I did not find the thin crust particularly thin or crispy and I have to say - I will stick with Star Pizza in Orange when i get a craving for real thin crust pie!
The wife and I had a pleasurable dining experience yesterday at Cosimo's. Service was good and the food was even better. I will continue to go to this restaurant. I plan on going this weekend with friends.
I ate here on a recommendation and the huge banner proclaiming the best pizza in Bloomfield ... you want a better pizza? go to the Town Pub about 2 minutes up Broad Street.
I also found employees mulling around and just watching me eat ... very strange.
Could not agree more. Town Pub truly has a wonderful pizza (best in my opinion). I am surprised we don't have a review of the Town Pub here and more comments. Sure, it's a pretty typical corner bar..but the food is wonderful.
I went to Cosimo's last night. The service was quick and excellent. I can see how people could say it's weird that the owner just sits there and the staff stands around, but they really have nowhere else to go, and I didn't find it strange or creepy at all. In fact, as soon as my boyfriend and I finished our meals, the waitress was there to bring us the check since she noticed we were done. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. I had the penne with eggplant in a pink sauce and my boyfriend had chicken with broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes. Both were great. The table next to us had a huge, amazing looking salad. Go there!
Okay -- the service isn't always the best at Cosimo's BUT the food NEVER fails to disappoint. We have had everything on the menu and never had a bad meal. Must give it another shot!
The food at Cosimo's is very tasty, but the bad service experience we had is enough to keep us from going there again. My husband and I went to Cosimo's regularly since we discovered it a year ago and were so pleased that we found a great Italian restaurant so close to our home. The staff was usually kind and accommodating. One night we ordered take out and the food we brought home was not what we ordered. We figured that it was just a miscommunication and ordered the meal again (and paid again although the person on the phone didn't seem to hear our order correctly). My husband went to pick up the new order. When he got home said that they gave us a discount, but the amount they charged was the same amount stated on the menu. I called to speak to the owner (who I thought was the nice gentleman who always greets you at the door), a woman answered saying that she was the owner. Although I mentioned to her that we love the food there and would like to keep eating there, she was condescending and didnt take our grievences seriously. It was as if she felt that she did not need our business. Fortunately, Bloomfield has many other great restaurants who appreciate regular customers.
We have eaten at Cosimo's several times and the food is always good. While the food was good tonight it took forever for it to get to the table. The servers didn't think anything of it either. I think Cosimo's is a place for regulars. If they don't know you they probably don't care as much. Too bad.
Have eaten at Cosimo's many times over the past few years. In regards to the comments on wait staff/owner-small space, no "bus" space-thus they will be in the dining area, get over it! Orange salad is my favorite, so different! and the pastas are always tasty and satisfying. Personal pizzas are good and are better the next day warmed up, although Regina Margherita in Nutley are "a different" better.
Cosimo's place has some of the best italian food around. Startting with pizza and salads to steaks and pasta. My father in law came all the way from Florida to go there even before he came to my house. His only disappointment is that it was closed when he got there.
Cheers Cosimo and keep up the good food
We eat at Cosimo's probably every other week. We have had friends in from Italy, who begged us not to take them to an Italian restaurant because they make "American Italian" food. We insisted on Cosimo's and they were blown away. Told us that it never was better in Naples - pasta perfectly al dente and the spicing perfect. Giovanna, the daughter and the chef, prepares fantastic food that never fails to please. Anyone we've taken there has been nothing but impressed with the quality of food, service and warmth. To me, it feels like dining with family.
Consistently delicious food. Seafood is always cooked to perfection. I've been going to Cosimo's for a couple of years now and find the ambiance to be charming, and the owners and waiters to be gracious and helpful. Fantastic restaurant all around.
