Right across from Glen Ridge Auto, but a world away inside. Fine Italian food, but not too snooty to celebrate 6th grade graduation. With a liquor license.

My boyfriend and I went there for dinner in September and sat outside with our dog. Our service was excellent and our waitress recommended great entrees. My eggplant soup was terrific and my rainbow trout (I think) was great. My boyfriend had the filet mignon au poivre, which he loved.
We will definitely go back to Joseph's again. It was an excellent evening and Joseph was quite nice. Great place to live around the corner from. Made it nice after a bottle of wine.
I'm reluctant to write this post but here goes. My boyfriend and I returned for a nice New Year's Eve dinner. We were greeted...and then we waited. 55 minutes to be exact before I finally got up and told the hostess that nobody had come to our table except the guy giving us bread and water (we got seconds though). We kept thinking the waitstaff would notice, but nobody did. Finally, after my complaint, our waitress came over. She literally just took our order. No apology or reading of the specials. We were very kind and treated it at the time like it was a simple mistake. We were trying to keep the holiday spirit. We actually had to ask the waitress of the lobster tail special because we saw someone with it but we knew it wasn't on the menu. We felt like we were a burden. The food came out and just as the last time it was wonderful. The mussell app was excellent. Since we had such an enjoyable visit in September (and the owner was very kind) we will return and try it again. However, we could not have been more disappointed. We thought we were going to a classy place for New Years but we felt so mistreated. I really couldn't believe no one came to our table to inquire as to why we were sitting there with menus for 55 minutes and no one apologized. That was really all we wanted. We were very patient and very nice about it. It was such a strange experience that I have to think that it was some crazy oversight. Anyway, I just had to write this, but hopefully my next post will be more like my former.
I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life here. I ordered a steak to be cooked rare. When I received it, it was not only overcooked but not a good cut of beef, tough and grainy. I debated about sending it back but finally called the waiter over. He was very nice and offered me another selection from the menu. I ordered the salmon. Much to my surprise the owner of the restaurant came over and demanded to know in a very defensive manner what was wrong with the steak. I explained in as nice a manner as possible. He then proceeded to argue with me and declare that he had tasted the steak and nothing was wrong with it in a very argumentative manner, and then said very sarcastically
Joseph's did a terrific job on a meal for two speakers at a recent Glen Ridge event. The restaurant prepared the meals and arranged to have dinner over in time for our guests to deliver their speeches. The food got high praise, as well.
Well done.
I found the food to be adequate at Joseph's but my server was about the rudest I've ever encountered. We are new to the area & I went in as a single (woman)diner and could not have received a colder reception. Though it was not busy at all, he seemed unable to get rid of me fast enough. Was not helpful with questions about wines by the glass, said he'd be back-never returned, didn't offer coffee. But it was his demeanor that was the worst-rude bordering on angry. When I asked for grated cheese, he gave me a look of utter disgust. Was very sarcastic throughout. I will not return to this establishment-ever. For me, part of an enjoyable dining experience is courteous (or at least CIVIL) service.
my boyfriend and i go to Joseph's just about every week. The food gets better every time. We have tried things we wouldn't have ever dreamed of and have never been disappointed. The staff is always courteous and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
also, the bread is phenomenal.
I love their food, you can't pick a bad entree. The decor makes me feel like I am in a Laura Ashley Showroom though. The service is like -over the top attentive and really formal. I had a dinner party for 8 here and every single person loved it!
