I truly love the pizza at Mamma Mia but I refuse to order from them any longer. They happen to be the rudest place I have ever ordered from. They are very abrupt when they answer the phone and even more so when picking up the food. At one time, while waiting for my order, I heard the owner yelling at a customer over the phone. The made a mistake on the order and did not want to send the driver back and gave the customer a hard time. Basically he told the customer that he didn't need his business.
Mama Mia has great pizza. That being said, their delivery is notoriously slow (once taking 1hr. and 30 mins - and this was on a saturday afternoon). Also, I happen to agree about the owners/employees - extremely rude. Still, there isn't a better pie in Bloomfield.
I recently ordered take-out from Mamma Mia, based on the good reviews for the food above. What a bad idea. The crust was very hard and dry and had absolutely no taste. Ordered garlic knots - they didn't come with sauce, and they tasted like the crust only smothered in garlic. Will never order from here again!
Unfortunately, the only good thing about Mama Mia's pizza is the special price they have Mon-Thurs ($6.30 for a plain pie)- their pie is so,so (I'm italian I know from whence I speak)...if you want a great pie (besides the thin crust type at Star Tavern)...there's Cosimo's on Broad Street near the high school....brick oven type with a light favorful crust...YUM (that's italian)
Cosimo's is awesome - as for Momma Mia, I called last night for a pie and got a message that they are not open on Sundays or Mondays from now through the summer.... kind of weird....
What is with those guys? They really are so rude. It doesn't bother me that they aren't open on Sundays/Mondays - I never order from the place because of their attitude.
I worked there for a couple of weeks and I was supposed to get paid every Friday. He "forgot", (I thought,) the first week and then did the same the next week. When I asked when I would be receiving the money he said I'll get it to you Tuesday, I returned for my money and again he didn't have it. The delivery guys are nice, the prices are reasonable, and the pizza isn't half bad, but I wouldn't ever give them my business again.
mama mia's must use the worst product ever. we had thier pizza a few months ago and it was disgusting. then out neighbors told us to order from benito's on broad street and we could not have been more pleased with the food. great pie!
Although some individuals, such as Kathy, profess a great disdain for Mamma Mia, it is difficult to effectively measure the quality of their product, as each individual has his or her own preference, as to how a pizza should taste. It is apparent that Mamma Mia uses quality ingredients and products, as the management has offered to produce them when requested for the customer. Therefore, one would think that their product should be impeccable. However, due to the amount of volume that their restaurant accommodates, it is inevitable that their will be errors along the way. It could be suggested to observe their overall operation as to truly critique their product. The one area with which they could improve is in the area of delivery.
Although some have opined that the management is uncouth, it could be argued that much of that frustration is a result of the immature nature of the drivers that they employ. It is not out of the ordinary for one to experience a long delay in receiving their order. However, in some of these instances, the drivers have become lost, or are unfamiliar with the community. Indeed, it would be suggested that Mamma Mia reevaluate the way with which they select individuals to work for them. The management is culpable for ensuring that they have the right people working for them. Moreover, the management is responsible for treating their customers with dignity and respect. That, I will not argue. Again, to suggest the food is just plain disgusting is a comment that is not just unfair, but uneducated as well.
I eat at Mamma Mia's quite often and I really like the food and found the service to be quite fast and courteous.
I don't know where these people are drawing their vituperative comments from. I've been going to Mamma Mia's Pizzeria for years now and have seen nothing but courtesy and professionalism each time. Whatever is said, whether it be from people's true experience or they were influenced by others (muck-slinging by competition, etc.) to give a negative ranking, I have had nothing but good service when I walk through those doors.
I ordered a plain pie with half pepperoni from Mamma Mia last week and it was one of the best pizzas I've had from this area in a while. The girl who took my order was pleasant. When I told her that I didn't have a menu, she told me that she'd include one with my order.....and she did! I'm ordering again tonight.
After trying almost all the pizza places in Montclair, we found our favorite pizza at Mamma Mia's in Bloomfield.
