More Luxury Condos Come To East Orange

Thursday, June 28, 2007

Eocondos

This week, 60 Parkway Drive, celebrated its official ribbon-cutting, with East Orange Mayor Robert Bowser heaping praise on GLC Group principals Mark Caller and Pinny Loketch. Irvington-based GLC Group has bought and rehabbed developments in Newark and East Flatbush, Brooklyn.

It's quite a transformation when you read about the building's past, here...

“We understand the growth potential of East Orange and, therefore, feel that “60” is part of an amazing future for this trendy new city,” says Caller. Intro pricing for units range from $99,000 to $399,000. You'll recall we told you about Empire View, another condo development in East Orange, here.

It is amazing that they are renovating that building. It has an absolutely FABULOUS view of the GSP.

(Hopefully, the view is better from the upper floors.)

East Orange has a tradition of great architecture and urbanism. It is so diffucult for a communtiy to put itself back together after being sliced through by a highway and they had to deal with both the GSP and then 280. Developers are building beautiful single family housing neighborhoods and the century old homes have "good bones" and ornamental details to work with.

Looks nice but they really skimped on the renovation, the Empire View condominiums look much better www.empireview.com

I don't think they skimped at all. The insides are outfitted with marble flooring, oakwood, granite tops. The kitchens are beautifully designed with stainless steel appliances, granite tops, ceramic flooring, and each unit has a balcony.

I think they're great. I love the building entrance too. I hope I can move in there soon. Not to mention that the prices are incredibly affordable right now. God knows when that will last.

Empire View has most of those things as well, Lisa Miller. Plus, a washer and dryer in each unit, which 60 Parkway Drive does not. Pfft, balconies? If you want to inhale exhaust from GSP than more power to ya'. And EV is less than a 10 minute walk to the EO train station. Don't even have to rely on a shuttle service.

how can you say that they skimped on the renovation. It is absolutely amazing! I cant wait to move in.

Well, for starters, who installs a sink right next to a shower with sliding doors, making one side not accessable? Having on-site daycare, though, is a plus. But being so close to GSP must blows. We drove over there yesterday and the building is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by crappy housing.

Has anyone noticed that the word 'luxury' is rapidly losing its meaning due to its overuse by the real estate industry? Every piece of real estate must have the word tacked on to it (often literally) in order to make it marketable.

I was at 60 parkway and they just didn't do a great job on the finishes, there are small refridgerators, ugly green tiles in bathrooms, they reused old door frames and walls. They tried to give a luxury product but the quaility of work and choice of materials wasn't there. I agree with a previous post that Empire View is a better product but I couldn't afford their penthouses at $280,000
