Townhouse Anyone?

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

What new luxury digs are priced a lot cheaper than Crisco ever was? These homes.

Meanwhile, someone has taken on the moniker of Crisco to talk about Montclair here. Do you agree with the assessment?

I like those townhomes... I would miss the yard, but they look pretty nice inside.. love the game room. (nice bait :) )

as for the review... I don't think the property in montclair is overpriced... for the house you get, it compares very well with other towns.. I think the taxes are the real kicker.. You can get a house with almost 7-10k less taxes a year for the same price house in another town.

Where are the townhomes?

Posted by rudebuddha | July 16, 2007 1:47 PM

I think they are near nishuane park.

Click on the link -- there is a map showing exactly where they are, off Harrison Ave.

Where Montclair Community Hospital used to be.

I've seen them, 2 models. Very nice looking.

Looking through all the houses, I think Glen Ridge prices were a little low. I really believe that the taxes in Montclair and Glen Ridge are keeping the prices a little lower than they should be. Think about it. You buy a house in Glen Ridge and then add $1,000 a month or more onto your mortgage payments each month. That's got to hurt.

shermanGirl...

You are correct. Taxes(as well as interest rates) effect home prices... If taxes went down, the home prices would rise... people could afford to pay more.

those townhomes are gorgeous. top notch construction and quality, lots of space and real luxury finishings. also can't beat the Decamp on the corner. lol

#18 was just reduced to $650k. I think that's a pretty good price for these. Not sure what will happen to the unfinished units across the street.

Rich,

I agree... I just don't like the bedroom on the first floor.

The st. moritz model is VERY nice.. the upgrades to match the model are pretty costly though.

Does anyone have any information on these townhouses? Why are they not selling? Any idea what the taxes are?

Posted by LDS | July 30, 2007 10:31 PM

I don't think anyone knows the property taxes yet... they haven't been assessed. ( I asked when I visited the model)

I think 2 have sold so far... and there are only 4+2 models up. That's not too bad.

Gosh, If I ever buy a house with a frumpy, "no-design-taste kitchen" like that...just shoot me.

Look at the "queen anne" legs on the barstools - what a pisser!

It looks like something my parents would want, though.

That picture isn't even from the Heights at Montclair. And FYI, the bar stools don't come with the kitchen.
