The 41st Glen Ridge annual pancake breakfast returns this Saturday, March 12, at the Glen Ridge Congregational Church. The event will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and tickets will be sold at the door for $5. Breakfast includes: pancakes, sausages, juice, coffee and tea. Pancakes will be flipped and served by members of the Glen Ridge music students. Breakfast is sponsored by the Glen Ridge Music Parents Association to benefit the Glen Ridge High School music programs. The Weekend: Andy Warhol & Early St. Paddy’s Day

March is here, which means St. Patrick’s Day is just a few weeks away. Nutley isn’t wasting any time getting to the festivities. Their St. Paddy’s Day parade is Saturday at 1 p.m, with the route starting at Holy Family Church (28 Brookline Ave., Nutley) and ending along Franklin Avenue. New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association president Anthony Wieners is the grand marshal. Before the parade, there will be an Irish Memorial Mass at St. Mary’s, starting at 10 a.m. A post-parade party will be held at the Knights Of Columbus Hall (150 Chestnut Street, Nutley). You can learn about Andy Warhol’s fascination with cars starting Sunday at the Montclair Art Museum (3 South Mountain Ave., Montclair), with the opening of their exhibit “Warhol and Cars: American Icons.” The exhibit will feature more than forty works of art by Warhol from 1946-1986, including commercial illustrations, silkscreens, paintings and more. Own a Piece of the Yogi Berra Museum

Perhaps you don’t have a legendary blue seat from the old Yankee Stadium on display in your living room (or do you?), but maybe you’d be interested in owning a piece of Yogi Berra’s Montclair museum.

This weekend, the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center is having a renovations sale, giving baseball lovers the chance to buy items such as classic baseball photos, posters and displays from the old museum, including this photo of the 1936 Yankee greats Bill Dickey, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Tony Lazzeri. Prices on items will range from $5 to $150. There will also be hundreds of Yankee baseball cards of past and present players and the museum’s latest item — rubber museum wristbands engraved with a famous Yogi-ism for $2 each. Continue Reading

It’s starting to feel a lot like spring this weekend. If your still trying to get over your cabin fever here’s your chance with some helpful suggestions of what’s going on in Baristaville.

Luna Stage will host the world premiere of Mercy and the Firefly, a new play by Amy Hartman tonight, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. The play runs Thursday’s at 7:30 p.m., Friday’s and Saturday’s at 8 p.m., and Sunday’s at 2 p.m. through March 13. Come out to hear “Slippery Slope” composed of the duet Liquid Larry and Meg Beattie Patrick this Friday at Sesame tonight, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. The smooth duo will perform original music and covers. The set will end at 9:30 p.m. Sesame is located at 400 Bloomfield Ave. in Montclair.

Photographer and artist, Yasmeen Anderson, will be giving a lecture at the Ethical Culture Society of Essex County Saturday, Feb. 19. The event is part of 3rd Saturday Arts Night and will be from 7 to 9 p.m. and is free. Anderson will discuss how she turned her passion into a profession. Light refreshments will be served. The Ethical Culture Society is located at 516 Prospect St. in Maplewood.

The Hawthorne Symphony Orchestra’s concert on Feb. 20 will star Bloomfield’s own Alison Bolshoi. She plays the leading role of Leonore (disguised as Fidelio) in their production of Fidelio. Tickets are all $20 or less. For more information on their concerts and tickets go to their website.

Montclair State University will host screenings of the 2011 Oscar nominated short animated films and short subject documentaries this Sunday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to first session (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.) is $10 and $15 for the afternoon session (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) and $20 for an all day pass. Seton Hall University’s Department of Communication and The Arts presents The Robber Bridegroom, beginning Feb. 18, at the South Orange Performing Arts Center located in downtown South Orange. The musical is the first Seton Hall Theatre production of the New Year and is directed by Pete Reader, a professor in the Department of Communication and the Arts. Performances are at 8 p.m. on Feb.18, 19, 25, and 26, and 2 p.m. on Feb. 20 and 27. Tickets can be purchased through the SOPAC box office or by calling (973) 313-2787. Tickets are $15 for regular admission, $12 for alumni, children and senior citizens and $8 for students (with a valid ID), faculty and staff. A special student rush ticket is available for $5 one half hour before curtain.

Saturday at 8 p.m at Montclair State University’s Alexander Kasser Theater’s Peak Performances, Renowned pianist Christopher O’Riley teams up with Montclair native Carter Brey, the principal cellist of the New York Philharmonic. The two will play Bach’s Sonata in G Minor for viola da gamba and keyboard; Edvard Grieg’s Sonata in A Minor, op. 36, for cello and piano; and the regional premiere of Justin Dello Joio’s Due per Due, composed exclusively for Mr. Brey.

The 2011 Essex County Wrestling Tournament will kick off tonight, Friday (Jan. 28) at Essex County Codey Arena in West Orange at 6 p.m. This is the first time the high school tournament will be held in the county facility, which received a complete makeover in 2005. Warrants Issued for MSU’s Nicki Minaj Concert Scam

Warrants were issued last week by Montclair State University Police Department for Romarick Hough of Premier Talent Agency for allegedly scamming MSU’s Student Government Association out of $35,000.

The SGA thought they were paying for a concert featuring rapper Nicki Minaj for homecoming weekend last fall, until the rapper tweeted that she had never heard of the concert plans. Continue Reading

Corinna Sowers Adler will make her debut performance at the Metropolitan Room with “Stories…a Cabaret” at 4 p.m. The Bloomfield resident was just named one of the top 15 cabaret acts of 2010.  She has recently performed solo shows at the Laurie Beechman Theater, The Triad and Duplex.  Ms. Sowers-Adler is the co-owner of NiCori Studios & Productions, Director of Foundations for the Young Actor’s Training Center in New York City and Theatre/Musical Theater instructor at New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts.
